ABOUT
In the old city the work is still done by hand. This series follows the trades that have kept the medina running for centuries — the tanneries and their pits of colour, the knife-grinders bent over spinning wheels throwing sparks, the ironworkers at the forge, and the dyers whose cloth hangs dripping in red and indigo and saffron above lanes barely wide enough to pass. Around them the adobe houses hold the heat, their earth walls the same rust colour as the ground they stand on. Nothing is staged. It's a city that works, photographed while it works.
