About me

To whom it may concern,

Hi. I'm Steven, and I'd love to put myself forward for the Copywriter's vacancy. Please find attached a brief summary overview of my background, my skills and my CV, and I'd be more than happy to send over some recent copy from my portfolio.

I graduated the University of Edinburgh with a First Class MA (Hons) in English Literature in 2009. Since then I've been working as a freelance Copywriter and Copyeditor - and a pinch of everything else in between - while moving around the world. I settled in York as of last year to build upon three years of varied professional copywriting experience with a job in .a small marketing and advertising group outside the city. This position has seen me writing long, short and micro-copy primarily for the end user (though also for b2b materials), along with case studies and interviews, email marketing, feature pieces, print and online advertising, and the concomitant marketing and business activities the role demands. I'm the lead copywriter, and working across eight very different specialist brands has been a refreshing challenge to bring out a unique tone of voice for each, to put together engaging stories and help shape the company's future. During this time the marketing team have witnessed a massive sea change in the company as a result of our combined efforts: leads generated and conversions are regularly double the daily target set from just last year's totals, web traffic has increased dramatically and our open and click-through rates continue to impress.

I'm now looking for a much bigger career challenge, and I hope this position with you is exactly that. I'm capable, dependable, unfluffable and driven, and I'd love to hear back from you whenever possible.

Kind regards,

Steven
