Steve Cassar 3D/CGI Artist

ABOUT

This film is an ambitious drama-documentary-animation hybrid from John Battsek and Franny Armstrong and starred Oscar-nominated Peter Postlethwaite.
I created key CGI scenes which blended seamlessly with live footage. I designed and modelled the main CG object known as ‘The Archive’ which included futuristic wind-turbines and solar panels. I created all textures, lighting and lighting effects and made extensive use of Maya’s dynamics and particle systems to create the exterior environment which included an ocean, wave splashes, and clouds of mist and fog. I also designed and created the camera animation and lighting for the final shot of the film which was a pull-out from ‘The Archive’ that took the camera up through a light beam as it was projected into space.
