About me

I am a flexible, enthusiastic picture editor/researcher and caption writer with a background in photojournalism and fashion. I work well under pressure and also enjoy the buzz of multitasking to several tight deadlines at once whilst remaining calm and clinging to my cup of tea! I love being part of a team but am also perfectly happy working independently. I am very lucky that my work so far has provided me with a nice balance of both
I have previously worked and provided images for both press and political organisations including the United Nations in Nairobi and the Order of Malta Volunteers in the UK, most recently with the OMV as the picture researcher/editor at the International Holiday camp in Wales for young special needs people from all over the world. This was hosted by the UK for the first time this year and my responsibilities included research and briefing for the media team regarding legal considerations beforehand and drawing up consent forms regarding the copyright and protection of the vulnerable adults in the images that were published afterwards. I also worked within the media team to produce a daily newspaper of the previous day's activities. This meant meeting tight deadlines and filling layouts every day for overnight printing.
My previous role as a picture editor for Matrix Syndication gave me experience of multitasking and working to demanding press deadlines. I also liaised with photographers and news organisations and captioned and created compelling photo stories for worldwide sale as well as daily key wording and retouching of images, working on both Mac and PC. I worked as part of the team and also independently, providing evening and weekend cover, making decisions about incoming news stories, managing FTP downloads and uploading to the website and image archive. I also dealt with specific archive requests and enquiries from all over the world. During my time with Matrix I was the only editor to have an image placed on the front page of The Times newspaper.

As the manager of two large photographic galleries in London I oversaw the press and production team and helped launch major exhibitions ranging from Ken Russell and The Guardian to The Big Issue. Within my role I also acted as the liaison between the gallery and its photographers, provided PA support to the Director and managed a large internship programme for young people wanting to work within art galleries and the photographic world.
I am looking to join friendly creative team to use my photographic, editing and project management experience.
