ABOUT
“What opposes unites, and the finest attunement stems from things
bearing in opposite directions, and all things come about by strife”.
This Heraclitus’ quote was our start point for the project. The small
building where we realised the wine bar is inside a bigger abandoned
area in Milan, San Siro’s neighbourhood, once occupied by an
important stable. We renovated it creating a space which changes as
his users: children and elderley during the daytime, young and adults
in the evening. The contrast, meaning the contrast between the original
shape of an object and the one it acquires after becoming a remains
and being re-used, marks out all the project and is expressed by two
families: the first one is the “demarcation”, as black and white on walls,
floor and cushions, the other one is the “upcycle”, the art of reuse old
items, which should be thrown away, giving them a new life creating
new kind of object totally different by their original purpose.
