ABOUT
Reimagining fashion communication.
Context
rag & bone is a brand known for pushing the boundaries of classic design so it’s no surprise they unveil each season with an innovative and artful experience. We partnered with their creative team for two high-concept deliverables: a mind-bending video with shifting perspectives and a dinner party where the guest of honor was a real seeing, thinking and talking artificial intelligence interface.
Collaboration & Concept
For the short film Why Can’t We Get Along SpecialGuest was inspired by the sculptural camera rig work of Tony Hill, and used different setups and techniques for an uncanny and disorienting effect. The clothes are showcased by strikingly different dancers (as well as actors Kate Mara and Ansel Elgort) through perspectives that change dramatically and challenge how the viewer sees the world around them.
For our most meta project so far, SpecialGuest created a special guest: an AI bot voiced by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. Instead of settling for the standard fashion show format (runway, models, clothes, the end) SpecialGuest and rag & bone collaborated on A Last Supper, a dinner party where guests interacted with each other as well as a machine-learning dinner companion. Picking up on pre-programmed data points, the AI dinner guest formed sentences to describe the party from its point of view. We collaborated with choreographer, Damien Jalet, AI writer, Ross Goodwin, developer, Elie Zananiri, and director, Jay Harwood.
