About me
Hello
My name is Sophie, I have a BA hons Graphic Design degree. For my first and second year at uni i received a first class grade, one of which was the highest grade that the uni has ever given a 'second' year, and finished uni in the third and final year with a first class grade overall, at 80%. I do not stop pushing myself to limits, my passions are editorial and layout design, along with branding and promotional design including flyers, poster, print based items, however i do not like to class myself as specialist in any area because i love all aspects of design. Although my weakness does fall in the web area, i would love to develop this and become more confident when it comes to it. I think the most important part of the design process is the idea, thinking and research behind it. My final major project was all about getting 16-30 year olds interested in travelling more, so i looked at key design trends and created over 100 posters, also using geometric patterns. I also created a very bespoke typeface which i'd love to show you.
Over the past two years i have done lots of internships, placements and voluntary work, (even during my degree) I have worked for a clothing design company 'members only', and really enjoyed it, and walked out with a nice portfolio from there. Also i have worked for two magazine companies, IDOL magazine, and Players Publishing. I have also worked for a couple of branding design companies such as creative ID and Grand Creative. I also do lots of voluntary work for an organisation in Romford, one of the projects was rebranding a shopping hall. I was also in creative review when i did my graduate show as one of the picked ones to watch.
I'd be happy to send you any of my work, and please visit my website , its still in working progress, as its been a busy summer! this is my other portfolio site which is a little more complete! I have a massive portfolio that i would love to show you. A lot of my work is print based, i have created 3, 300 page books for different projects, and i have all the magazines i have worked on from IDOL magazine, and Players Publishing.
I really enjoy learning new things, if I'm not improving on anything, i don't feel like I'm pushing myself enough, so i am consistently trying to to learn and try new programs and techniques.
Thank you very much,
Sophie Bland
