SomeOne London,

ABOUT

Founded in 1787, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is recognised as the sole authority on the laws of cricket. From their home at Lord’s — known as the home of cricket — they are one of the most revered cricket organisations in the world. Fast forward to 2026 and our project to relaunch the MCC short format team, London Spirit.

London Spirit men’s and women’s teams compete annually in The Hundred, the shortest and most dynamic form of the game in the world. Following investment from the US-based ‘Tech Titans’ (which includes CEOs from some of the world’s largest tech companies) the team has been reimagined in advance of the 2026 season.

Starting with a period of rigorous research and consultation, then on to visually creative work, the new chapter sets out to bring greater clarity, symbolism and intent to a team representing both the heritage of cricket and the pace of the modern game.

The idea of duality powers all aspects of the identity — history/modernity, women/men, old/young, batting fielding — all of which can be visually represented by ‘the thread’, a powerful combination of colours, unique to the MCC

In terms of naming, London Spirit remained, a decision that was deliberate. Fans already own it. Instead, the focus was on making the brand work harder.

The new LS symbol features a smile in the mind by emulating the world-famous Lord's slope on the base of the L. Again, reinforcing the history of the team, but portraying in a contemporary way.

Lord’s emerges as the defining asset. The new logo distils the club’s initials into a bold, contemporary symbol, with a subtle incline in the letter L referencing the famous Lord’s slope. The Father Time weathervane, celebrating its centenary, appears as a recurring motif, anchoring the identity in cricketing folklore without nostalgia overload.

A deep blue now leads the colour palette, with a discreet thread of MCC red and yellow woven through merchandise and applications. Heritage, modernised. Confidence, not costume.

The patterns, key the the BrandWorld, are all inspired by key elements of Lord's — from Father Time and his timer, to the incomparable MCC egg and bacon pattern, to the cutting-edge Media Centre. All brought to life in a dynamic fashion through scale and motion.

The rebrand lands alongside a series of commercial and sporting milestones. Barclays joins as Principal Partner, appearing on the front of the playing kit, reinforcing its long-standing relationship with MCC and its commitment to cricket at every level. The kit will be unveiled in spring.

On the field, London Spirit has confirmed eight international signings ahead of the March auction, spanning both the men’s and women’s teams. The squad brings proven experience in the shortest formats and underlines the franchise’s intent to compete seriously, immediately.
