Created in the middle of the uncertainty of the COVID pandemic, “Ceniza” became one of my most personal and resourceful projects.

With almost no access to equipment, locations, or in-person collaboration, solo musician Mariano Villano trusted me to direct, film, and edit this piece from start to finish.

The production was entirely integral: creative direction, visual concept, filming, editing — even directing the actor, who also happens to be my brother. Some things come naturally after a lifetime of rehearsals at home.

The result is imperfect, intimate, handmade, and deeply honest. Exactly what that moment in time felt like.
