How do you showcase 
a new fashion line via an exciting new game?

Challenge

Following the success of the brand’s first interactive digital game, Maison KARL LAGERFELD, The KARL LAGERFELD team approached us once again, this time to create a digital campaign to launch the creative and colourful KARL X YOU collection in time for the festive season. The campaign needed to be a game, help with data acquisition, elevate the brand and show off the product.

Solution


Ideation resulted in a digital game called Katch Karl that showcases the brand’s new KARL X YOU holiday collection, giving fans the chance to win their favourite pieces. Putting the brand at the centre of the action, the new game offers players three chances to click on the correct accessory or item of clothing as products from the Metallic Ikonik collection rotate on the screen. Those who can successfully ‘Katch’ the prize each week are entered into a draw, with one lucky player winning the stylish piece. Users can challenge their friends, play again, share on social or explore the new collection. The game will be available to fashion fans in Europe, Middle East and Russia.

User experience at the heart of the game.

In designing the KATCH KARL web game, SMACK ensured a seamless user experience across desktop, tablet and mobile devices. The animation of the products comes to life beautifully on all devices.

Focusing on the collection.

The products were put front and centre, giving the user a gamified experience whilst discovering pieces from the latest collection – animating the product and urging users to catch the prize. We went a step further and themed the game for the 4 weeks that it ran, each week had different intro images from the look book, different products for the game and a unique background created for the week.
