About me

Please accept this letter in support of my application for the post of junior designer. I have studied your job description on Monster in great detail and I have the personal and professional qualities necessary, and the motivation and enthusiasm as a recent graduate to begin my career.

My three year BA Hons Degree in Contemporary Creative Practice in addition to my one year College Diploma in Art and Design have provided me with opportunities to explore widely different genres and forms of Art and Design. This has allowed me to develop my interests and experience in design in preparation for such a post.

As part of my degree I attended weekly group seminars where I liased with

professionals in the field and planned and presented my progressive artwork. Through this I developed a strong evaluative approach to my own work, confidence to speak,

accept and give constructive criticism and continuously strive to improve on my best work.

Having completed my degree I am looking forward to continuing my professional

development and accessing some formal training in the only field I have ever wanted to focus on in my life.

I am a daily user of editing software such as Adobe Photoshop which I have used

extensively to create numerous projects. These projects have included Photography for website based sales on loveyourart.com and thesaatchigallery.com. I recently appeared as the feature artist on both sites which are highly revered and attract worldwide

attention. I have also recently designed and produced promotional materials for a local band.

I am confident when using editing software on both Apple Mac and Microsoft computer systems. I also frequently use text software such as Publisher, Word, Notebook, Acrobat reader and Excel.

I am aware of the high importance to detail especially in design and I am keen to show my extremely thorough eye to detail from the initial brief and concept to the final idea and making. I have shown acute precision in computer based retouching and editing of photography, also in technical drawing, modelling from clay, wire, metal and plastics.

I have excellent conceptual and contemporary ideas. I am young and eager, fun to work with, ready to learn and I have very high expectations of myself. I am dedicated to every job and I have a talent to be skilful at all tasks whilst completing them with total

commitment and to the best of my ability.

A great deal of my own photography is 'staged' using models, props, and different

lighting techniques. I enjoy this hands-on approach to all my work, both digital and free hand and relish the fact that it takes a great deal of thought, precision and directorship to create high quality images.

I appreciate the importance of strong working relationships as they often mirror the high

quality of work that can be produced. Working at Morrisons during my studies for five years helped me to gain excellent people skills and take a shared responsibility for the work to be done as part of a hardworking, successful team.

My current post as a cash processor at NPower has further developed my team skills as I have had the opportunity to work as part of a smaller team, working under pressure quickly and above all accurately to meet crucial daily deadlines.

I am very confident in my own abilities and have the potential and skill to be a great

asset to you and the company as a whole. I am willing to travel, I am prepared to work outside office hours and I am adaptable to new situations. I am available to work with an immediate start.

If appointed I feel that I would bring enthusiasm and commitment to sustaining the high standard of work that already exists.

I hope that you find my application worthy of consideration and I look forward to

discussing further details with you at a formal interview.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Adam Ward
