About me

Fashion and costume designer/maker based in Manchester (UK) with own studio in Manchester city centre with enough space to construct large scale costumes. As well as designing and commercializing my own brand under my own name "Silvia Hoya Mena", I own and run a bespoke fashion and costume business, where I design and make bespoke costumes, bridal gowns, special occasion outfits and hand crafted street couture. I graduated in 2000 with a BA (Hons) Fashion Design Practice 2:1 at Salford University, and in 1992 with an "Industrial Fashion Design and Pattern-Cutting" degree at Goymar school of Fashion in Madrid (Spain). Ever since I have travelled the world either making fantastic creations and/or lecturing fashion design at University, teaching dressmaking and fashion upcycling courses. My work has been featured in Vogue Italy digital edition amongst other fashion magazines, has been shown at parades, has been worn by celebrities, has been on TV, exhibited in galleries, and used in festivals and the circus.
