Launched in the early 00s, HALF.BG was a locally developed platform that had hoped to start off as the Bulgarian eBay before quantum-leaping to an Amazon of Eastern Europe first and then the known universe. While their opening salvo was indeed very attractive (licensed DVD sold for half the going high-street price), the initial bombast very soon succumbed to market realities and the company folded within the year. Fond memories, still, especially the one where they liked the concept so much during the original presentation that they started bouncing off headlines right there and then with ‘DVD et impera’ taking the cake. Half-baked as the latter may sound, these guys’ glasses were always half-full so more power to them.
