One of the largest autopart manufacturers in the world, Gates Autoparts is a valued purveyor to many works Formula 1™ teams and—staying true to the core idea of the series—the car manufacturers behind them. Upon finding out that the East European subsidiary of the company might be looking for a new agency of record, the petrolheads across all agency departments pooled resources to draft a few spec ads. After much cold-calling and general perseverance, some of the drafts made it to the desk of a similarly enthusiastic decision-maker who made sure we got a call-back for a one-off campaign. It saw the light of day two months later, lovingly crafted almost entirely by hand and in excruciating detail. An all-time personal favourite.
