ABOUT
This project is based on the Female Form and i have captured stretch marks, burns, surgical scars, skin conditions, weight, skin tones and underwear marks. These women see these as their insecurities and my aim was to capture the parts of each of the females body and portray them as perfections and demonstrate each women's uniqueness'. Living in this generation can be difficult to embrace the skin your in as a-lot of things can be frowned upon and aren't accepted. Therefore, hopefully women can relate to this and this series inspire all women to embrace their bodies they are in. I have researched a range of artist linking to the topic of the female body and have been inspired by the story’s, and the way women’s bodies have been photographed compositionally. I have looked at artists such as, Jo Spence, Jen Davis, Chloe Rosser and Berber Theunissen. These shouldn’t be seen as “Imperfections” and if you have any of these things it is thought that you cannot be beautiful? The human body is an incredible organ and for social media and advertisers even surgical influences to think it was acceptable to body shame females and make them feel like they are not good enough effected myself personally, that is one of the reasons I was interested in this topic and I knew it would be a challenge however I wanted to continue with it as I could connect to it. I have deep stretch marks all over my legs, bum and all over my thighs therefore growing up with this was mentally a struggle for me to accept myself and embrace my body and my marks, however shooting these women and connecting with them made me realise this is nothing to be ashamed of and is perfectly normal.
