We had the pleasure of working on a special project for Squeeze Jewellery—an elegant and unique luxury advent calendar that perfectly showcased their beautiful jewellery. It’s a project we’re very proud of, and below we share some of the details of how we brought this idea to life.

The Brief

Squeeze Jewellery approached us to create a luxury advent calendar that reflected the premium quality of their jewellery.

After initial discussions, we learned they wanted a calendar featuring 12 pullout drawers. We also explored the idea of designing the calendar to resemble a book box, but we ultimately decided on a different construction.



Finding Solutions

Given the order quantity, the cost of producing a traditional advent calendar with individual pullout drawers was too high. Our solution was to modify the design while maintaining the look of a premium product.

We proposed a large lid-and-base box structure with 12 smaller inner boxes sitting neatly above the base for easy removal. This approach allowed us to maintain that luxury feel while staying within the budget.



The Design Process

We worked closely with Squeeze Jewellery to ensure every detail was just right. From the initial design concept to the final product, we remained in constant communication to guarantee the calendar met their expectations.

To strike the right balance between aesthetics and cost, we considered different types of foil finishes as well as a print-only design. Ultimately, we achieved the best of both worlds by recommending Scodex foil—a high-quality yet cost-effective solution.

We produced a plain sample and shared photos with the client for approval, before proceeding with production.



Materials

For the materials, we selected a white-lined board for the base and lid. The base featured a 140gsm uncoated wrap, while the lid used a 150gsm silk wrap.

The inside of the boxes were left plain, while the outer wrapping was printed in full colour and finished with an anti-scuff matt laminate. This added durability and ensure the calendar could stand up to handling without losing its pristine look.

We incorporated Scodex gold foil on the outer boxes. This digital foil process offered a high-end finish without the expense of traditional foil blocking.

The Final Product

Once the plain sample photos were signed off, we moved into production and delivered 30 bespoke advent calendars.
