ABOUT
The brief for the Lupa do Bem project arose from the need to tackle key challenges faced by small NGOs in Latin America - particularly in gaining visibility, accessing funding, and building institutional credibility. The goal was to develop a platform that could amplify these organizations’ voices while providing them with the communication tools, training, and access to opportunities they need to grow and sustain their work. Sherlock Communications was tasked with leveraging its PR and digital expertise to create a scalable, mobile-first, and multilingual initiative capable of delivering meaningful social impact.
The approach was holistic, strategic, and data-informed. The project began with in-depth research to map gaps in the current ecosystem supporting third-sector organizations. This revealed major shortcomings, including low digital presence, language barriers, lack of professional storytelling, and a fragmented donor landscape. Based on these findings, Sherlock Communications built a mobile-first platform offering content in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. The team produced high-quality, impact-focused journalism, published on the Lupa do Bem platform and across partner outlets such as Catraca Livre, Red/Acción, and InnContext. They also developed free e-books on NGO management, conducted training workshops and online sessions, created pro bono communication campaigns for grassroots initiatives, and launched Dominó do Bem - a blockchain-based donation platform allowing for fast, fee-free, and transparent cryptocurrency donations. Additionally, real-time engagement was fostered through WhatsApp groups, active social media management, and short educational video series tackling key NGO challenges in a clear and accessible way.
The results, as of May 2025, have been significant. Lupa do Bem has mapped and supported over 415 NGOs, directly donated R$ 237,000 to 219 organizations, and positively impacted around 20,000 individuals through a range of social actions. The three practical e-books launched by the organisation have been downloaded over 1,000 times, proving essential for organizational development. Lupa do Bem has delivered five pro bono campaigns, provided training to more than 50 community leaders, and generated an additional USD 77,000 in support through CSR partnerships. On social media, Lupa do Bem has built a community of 6,500 followers, achieving 3.1 million impressions. The project has also earned institutional recognition - including from the Recife Department of Innovation, which requested permission to share Lupa’s content publicly. Most importantly, the platform has made a visible difference on the ground, helping NGOs to maintain critical operations, strengthen their communication, attract new partners, and continue serving their communities. Today, Lupa do Bem is more than just a platform - it’s a support hub that fosters solidarity, transforms lives, and inspires lasting change through collective impact.
