ABOUT

Lizzie’s Accident is a children’s book illustration project created in collaboration with the Children's Burns Trust. Designed for children aged 3–6, the project aims to raise awareness around burns and safety through gentle storytelling, engaging illustrations, and child-friendly visual communication. The book follows Lizzie’s journey after an accident, helping young readers understand emotions, recovery, and safety in a calm, supportive, and non-frightening way.

The illustration style combines expressive hand-drawn textures, bright colours, and playful compositions to create an engaging reading experience for early years audiences. Careful attention was given to typography, page layouts, and accessibility to ensure the book feels clear, comforting, and easy for children and parents to read together. The project also explored sensory and interactive design ideas inspired by children’s learning and storytelling experiences.

This project reflects a care-led design approach, combining illustration, editorial design, and ethical storytelling to communicate sensitive topics in a way that feels hopeful, educational, and visually engaging for young children.
