Coffee-themed editorial spot art illustration

The illustration was for an article written by Tim Carman (food reporter for The Washington Post) outlining the steps to brewing a better cup of coffee at home. The five steps include: buying fresh, grinding your beans at home, being generous with your ratio used, filtering water at the correct temperature, and correct brewing time.

I created three rough sketches around these themes. Once one was chosen, I created the full-color vector illustration – the final illustration was created in the Washington Post style guide colors.
