It's been over 10 years since I've put together a demo reel for myself. During that time I've transitioned into a phase where I am producing, writing, and directing more often than shooting and editing.
What you're looking at in this "2018" reel is a selection of footage from projects over the years that I have directed and produced. About 68% of the footage was also shot by me since I felt better about presenting footage that was more directly my handiwork.
Make no mistake about it, filmmaking is a collaborative process and I'm deeply grateful for my collaborators. You're also looking at footage from projects that were co-produced and co-written by David Kang with Ecce! Films and footage that was also shot by Charles Kinnane, Brody Carmichael, Alex Quintana, Wes Shirley, and Spencer Peeples. Mark Leatherman was the editor of my first scripted short film project, 2am Lullaby, that was shot on Super 16mm film.
The lenses that I capture my projects through are richly humanistic, multi-generational, and deal with the intersection of our interior lives and our daily encounters.
