John Hollaway and I have been working for a number of years on the visual component of his revolutionary new concept - a Single Stage to Orbit, Reusable Launch Vehicle or SSTO RLV. Finally, he felt ready to present it to the world with an explainer video.

For me it was a chance to hone my rusty editing skills and learn whiteboard animation. We worked around his script and an initial concept video to put it all together, clarifying some areas with whiteboard and ordinary animation of the original diagrams. There have also been airbrushed versions of the Swala spaceplane at various stages of its development, including 1/10 and 1/5 size models launching off Tesla Model S cars.

There has been interest, but we look forward to initial enthusiasm being transformed into the reality of a working spaceplane.
