ABOUT

An immersive and fully experiential project designed to engulf all visitors to Design Junction in a piece of architecture that was simplistic in form and hugely ambitious in its delivery. The project uses an interior shelving system, essentially a furniture system, to create an enormous 70 metre long and 7 metre high, three dimensional facade, which engulfed trees, foliage and lighting and ensured every visitor passed through the experience when entering the Design Junction show. The design of this facade reflects the temporary nature of the Design Junction exhibition, combining the natural and artificial. The grid system holds a pixelated array of panels, which are orientated to reflect or provide glimpses of the foliage beyond, merging the two entities. The arrangement of the pixels directs visitors to the entrances and act as way finding signage. Reflective elements multiply the structural presence of the facade and the natural elements, allowing visitors to pass through the shrouded foliage as they enter the exhibition.
