ABOUT

The Global Trans Charter: Building a Framework for Inclusion in the Global Music Industry
The Global Trans Charter was created to address a simple but urgent need: clearer, more consistent standards of inclusion, safety, and opportunity for trans and non-binary people working across the global music and entertainment industries.

What began as a conversation rooted in lived experience has grown into an international initiative now supported across more than 30 countries. From the outset, the aim was not to create another statement of intent, but to build something active, evolving, and grounded in real industry engagement.

The Charter has developed through ongoing dialogue with artists, industry professionals, organisations, and global creative communities. Rather than existing as a static document, it functions as a living framework shaped by experience, feedback, and cross-border collaboration.

Alongside this, the initiative has been strengthened through visibility across international platforms, including major industry conferences such as ESNS, WOMEX, IMS, Reeperbahn Festival Conference, IMLC, and Women in Music Canada. These spaces have allowed the conversation to move beyond national boundaries and into wider global industry discourse.
One of the most significant milestones to date is the level of international engagement it has received, with support now spanning over 30 countries. This reflects a clear and growing recognition that inclusion must be embedded structurally within the industry, rather than treated as an optional or surface-level commitment.

The Global Trans Charter continues to evolve as both a framework and a movement. Its focus now is on deepening partnerships, expanding implementation conversations, and working towards practical adoption within organisations, events, and industry bodies.

At its core, the Charter is about one thing: turning visibility into structure, and conversation into lasting change across the global music ecosystem.
