ABOUT

I began this project after being inspired by the (somewhat) summery weather here in the UK, the changing seasons and the sudden increase in postings about cacti ans houseplants across social media. I sensed a trend emerging and a desire to decorate the home with elements of nature. I also thought this would be a great way to develop my illustration skills even further, as plants by their very nature are intricate and detailed.

The project lasted for roughly 2 months and I created around 40 illustrations in that time, ranging from small, A5 cacti, to multiple cacti in the form or surface pattern design, to more minimalist palms and banana leaves. Over the course of the project I also explored the creation of minimalist yet striking patterns with lino-printing.

This project was completed for my own developmental purposes, meaning I was driven and self-disciplined throughout. I added these works to my portfolio ans have since used the skills learned to plan future works.
