ABOUT
This is a project from 2010, during an internship at the design firm Whype. The brief was to write and graphically present an article to appear on their website, to show prospective clients how to write a good brief. I decided that due to it’s instructional nature, and the fact that it fitted into sections, it would make it as a handbook. I chose to make it look like a 1950’s style handbook, similar to those given out by governments during World War II and the cold war. This theme makes it more interesting and has a humour to it that makes people more likely to read it, it also makes feel less like they are being told what to do. I aged the handbook to make it look more authentic. This full PDF booklet can be downloaded from . I later had the handbook printed so I could have a physical version, I chose a slightly rough recycled paper which went well with the aged effects on the design.
