ABOUT
This project was to showcase the extent of our knowledge and experience gained over the previous three years. I designed an electronic training system that interacts with the user, in this case coaches and athletes. I created a newly designed cone, which come in a set of 12, I redeveloped the original cone to involve technologies that will be able to read, through sensors, the speed the player is travelling between each cone, offering accurate, up to date analysis of each individual athlete. This therefore allows the coach to identify whether the player is at the skill and fitness levels required. Alternatively, if placed next to goal posts, the cones can read the shot power the player has generated through shooting drills, offering coaches valuable feedback on their athletes, whether it be football, rugby, hockey or American football.
Using a variety of training drills, the cones can adapt to many training challenges, linking key information back to a developed App on a smart phone for the coach to use. By offering this information it enables the players to learn about their own fitness and the coach to identify specific improvements for an individual athlete. Whether used in running, sprinting, passing, dribbling or shooting drills, these smart cones would be advantageous to any training regime. At the end of the training session the upper half of the cones are removed and placed into a protective case, which then charges the devices ready to be used for the next regime. The main structure can be stored just as a normal cone would be, stackable, with a stronger framework and far better equipped for various weather patterns the smart cone is a beneficial addition to any athletes routine.
