ABOUT
I made a book compiled of gay selfies from around the world using the app “hornet”, I collected a total of 3,000 images in effort to use them as a means of representing and reflecting gay culture in any given part of the globe.
I analysed fifty selfies from each respective country, tracing over the eyes, nose, mouths, nipples and navels over each of the images presented creating an abstract collage which represents how sexually liberated or conservative the country actually is.
Regardless of the book being the finished outcome as of the time being (a sort of atlas if you will) it is my hope to curate an exhibition space with thee prints and perhaps re-represent them in a way which could be more tangible, possibly three dimensional.
The name Series 74 is in reference to the number of countries within the book, out also functions as the current number of countries around the globe that still do not protect their LGBT citizens.
