ABOUT

Handy is a self-initiated project based on the simple action of washing ones hands. A commentary on hygiene first and foremost but also a means of creating something beautiful from something mundane. I analysed six prints from different people working in different practices, dissected their technique through photographic stills and created prints from them.

I interviews and photographed a butcher, hairdresser, chef, waitress along with a host of other different professions and chose six prints to illustrate. The gold sections represent areas of the hand that have been washed, where as the negative is represented of spaces avoided. I also made a publication documenting the process.
