ABOUT

This bespoke digital artwork was created in support of You Okay, Doc? – a charity dedicated to mental health and wellbeing of healthcare professionals (HCPs). Our brief was to raise awareness of their work by showcasing mental health experiences of HCPs through a positive lens. We chose to focus on the quiet strength found within the community.

We collected messages from practicing HCPs, each offering words of encouragement in a handwritten, signed note. These were made permanent through embroidering onto medical scrubs; the thread symbolising support stitched into the daily realities, helping carry HCPs through each shift.

The finished garment was worn by Claudine, a Consultant Gynaecologist, photographed in clinic at the end of her shift. The portrait captures a private moment at the end of a tough day, an exhale when the weight eases just enough to remind you that you are not alone. Professional photography and grading allowed us to highlight this moment to full effect.

By combining handwriting, embroidery, portraiture and lived experience, the piece bridges digital and physical craft. A uniform associated with pressure becomes a canvas of solidarity and visible support, created for both a physical and virtual gallery space.
