ABOUT

CONCEPT
Lululemon’s GlowUp Studio was conceived as an unapologetically bold reimagination of the modern fitness experience. At its core, the activation sought to blur the lines between fitness studio, cultural hub, and brand immersion zone—all while celebrating the launch of Lululemon’s new GLOW line. The brief challenged the team to convert an uninspired, two-story former furniture store in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood into an energized, multi-sensory playground—one that could spark joy, foster community, and introduce a fresh perspective on what fitness could be. It wasn’t simply about showcasing apparel or hosting workouts; it was about architecting an emotional journey centered on movement, connection, and transformation.

The creative concept drew from the brand’s global “GLOW” campaign and was rooted in the idea of “energy in motion.” This ethos shaped every decision—from spatial layout and lighting design to programmatic cadence and palette selection. The intent was to create an experience that didn’t just activate the body, but also ignited the mind and spirit. Desert Red and Passionate Pink set a warm, invigorating tone, while pulses of vibrant purples and deep blues layered in a sense of vitality and forward motion. Lululemon’s values—community, wellness, inclusivity—were not just layered on, but infused into every element of the environment, signaling a fundamental shift from traditional product-led retail to purpose-led engagement.

With GlowUp Studio, Lululemon aimed to deliver more than just a pop-up; they envisioned a living, breathing ecosystem where fitness fans could meet, move, recharge, and reimagine their relationship to wellness—and to each other.

EXECUTION
Bringing the GlowUp Studio to life required a meticulous, multi-disciplinary approach that fused spatial design, event production, programming strategy, and brand storytelling into one cohesive ecosystem. Sister agencies Salt and Pinch led the creative development, design, and production, transforming a static commercial space into a dynamic experience that pulsed with life across two immersive floors.

Upon entry, guests were greeted by a vibrant retail moment that introduced Lululemon’s GLOW line—framed by interactive product displays and color-forward design accents. This retail entryway was intentionally fluid, encouraging guests to move organically toward deeper experiences. Moving past custom-built lockers and lounge areas, attendees arrived at the true heart of the activation: two high-energy, multi-functional fitness studios that hosted 42 classes over two weeks. The programming spanned modalities—from HIIT and dance to yoga and cycling—led by 27 of the most influential and inspiring fitness instructors in the industry. These classes sold out within 24 hours of the VIP launch, a testament to both anticipation and design excellence.

Every aspect of the studio was built to be immersive. Lighting wasn’t just functional—it evolved with the mood and tempo of each class, amping up intensity or dialing in intimacy as needed. Lenticular elements and kinetic graphics added visual motion, while curated soundscapes layered in emotional energy. The programming extended beyond exercise, with evening panel discussions, DJ-driven dance parties, and intimate Industry Nights transforming the GlowUp Studio into a social, cultural nucleus after dark.

The details were equally considered. Between classes, a water station transformed into a thoughtfully stocked self-serve bar offering cold-pressed juices, protein snacks, and supplements. Every guest touchpoint was elevated to white-glove service—seamless, polished, and personal. The digital component, anchored by a sleek Bizzabo-powered microsite, allowed users to browse bios, register for classes, and shop the GLOW line—all with frictionless ease. By seamlessly integrating physical and digital infrastructure, the studio extended beyond four walls and into daily life.

Most importantly, the GlowUp Studio embedded a deeper purpose within its activation strategy. The event partnered with “It’s Bigger Than Us,” a nonprofit addressing poverty and discrimination through community-led initiatives. The event raised \$71,000 in just two weeks, underscoring Lululemon’s ongoing commitment to values-driven action and positioning the brand not only as a category leader, but as a cultural one.

RESULTS
The GlowUp Studio was a resounding success by every measure—operational, emotional, commercial, and cultural. Over two weeks, more than 2,000 attendees passed through the space, engaging with Lululemon’s brand in ways that went far beyond traditional retail or marketing channels. Every one of the 42 classes sold out within 24 hours of the launch event, reflecting not just consumer demand, but deep resonance with the experience’s design and intent. The studio offered four special events that drew influential audiences and media figures alike, establishing the space as both a workout destination and a cultural touchpoint during New York Fashion Week.

Digital engagement expanded the reach even further. The event generated over 1.2 billion impressions across social media platforms, bolstered by coverage in 84 media outlets including E! News, Page Six, The Cut, and Vogue. Fifty-one media attendees—including top-tier editors from Goop and SHAPE—amplified the narrative of the GlowUp Studio as a zeitgeist-defining brand moment.

The results also reflected a remarkable ROI in emotional brand equity. With an average guest satisfaction score of 4.5 out of 5, attendees left not just impressed, but transformed—more connected to the brand and to each other. For many, the GlowUp Studio was not simply a fitness class or product preview, but a holistic journey of self-expression, empowerment, and belonging.

Philanthropic impact played a crucial role in that emotional resonance. By raising \$71,000 for "It’s Bigger Than Us," the activation solidified its role not just as a brand experience, but as a platform for collective good—transforming consumer attention into community action. The GlowUp Studio demonstrated how retail activations can do more than drive sales; they can move culture.

Perhaps most notably, the project redefined what fitness, retail, and community can look like when brought together under one vision. Through flawless execution, evocative design, and a strong sense of social purpose, Lululemon’s GlowUp Studio became more than a pop-up—it became a proof point that a brand can spark change, not by telling people what it stands for, but by letting them feel it firsthand.
