ABOUT

An app that is working as an E-service portal for requesting water services, and for the user to see the bills and make payment inside the application.

Client: A quick demo for an agency in Dubai

Tools used:

Pen and paper

Sketch app

Balsamiq app

Invision app

The platform: iOS

Hours spent: approximately 26 hours

I worked on the assignment in six parts:

Context: Defining the Goal and the challenge

Understanding the users: Interviewing users, making personas, and users journey map with brainstorming ideas

Sketching: Drawing rough sketches, making the wireframes

Designing: Designing the application user interfaces,

Prototype: Create an interactive prototype

User testing

1- The context
The Goal

The user can request pure water in easy steps by selecting the required service from the list of e-services, reading and confirming the service catalog, and entering required data in the e-service web or mobile forms. Once a service request is created in the portal user can view various information related to the progress of the service like due dates, status. In addition to the services, users can view and make payments against their bills.

2- Understating the users
The user's Interview

I interviewed 3 users, the questions that I asked them are

o What’s your name and how old are you?

o What are your goals and the goals of using an E Portal Services App?

o How do you use the technology and are you familiar with E-services applications?

o if there’s an application for you to request water service, will you use it and why?

o what is your current problems and frustrations while using the current E-service mobile applications?

Users journey map
I made the user journey map for the users combined and focus on the user’s personas

the Journey map includes:

Tasks Flow inside the application and how the user goes from step to step.

the Emotions that users will while using the app

The Pain Points in users journeys

The Actions that the user will take and can take during the tasks.

The Opportunities for designers and developers to improve the exercises and suggest better solutions while focusing and seeing the pain points in users journeys

3- Sketching
First, I create the rough sketches in paper, and then I went online and made it using Balsamiq to be visually clear ( for the sake of this demo I will only show a few wireframes and translate my rough sketches into UI Designs )

4- Designing
I worked on Sketch to design these screens and I made all of these from scratch with focusing on translating the wireframes into full mockups and I used pure water service in this mockup as an example of water services.

5- Prototype:
I used Invision app to make a simple prototype for this application.

6- User testing
After making a prototype this should be tested with real users from 3–5 and see how they are interacting with the application,

Can they guess what the app is for?

Are they completing the task requests without any mistakes?

what is the initial impression when using this application

what is the rate of experience from ( easy to hard ) using this application from 1–7?

Taking notes and recording this session can help to make a better version and iterate on design to reach the best experience.
