About me
My name is Sadie Larkin, I am a qualified hair and make-up artist graduate from the Iver make-up academy. I am trained in special effects, TV, film and theatre make-up and hair and I currently work as a freelance hair and make-up artist on tv, film and in theatre. I have experience in preparing wigs for actors and applying facial hair to actors when required to do so on jobs plus, I have basic hairdressing skills.
Since graduating from the Iver make-up academy I have gained work experience on a feature film at Pinewood studios and on BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. As well as this, I have gained theatre experience at Glyndebourne Opera house in their make-up department where I was able to shadow make-up artists apply body paint, natural make-up and glam make-up to different artists performing. Plus, I have had work experience at Chichester Festival Theatre in the wig department where I was able to block up wigs, dress them out and help apply the wigs to the artists performing. I was also able to wet set a wig for the following show. I have been asked by one of the deputy wig mistress to help her on her tour of 'Mamma Mia' in February 2020 in Southampton.
In addition, I have worked on a number short films where I worked on the main artists applying natural and special effects make-up and hair. I ensured that the artists make-up and hair looked on camera consistent continuity and to a high standard. As well as this, I have worked at Goodwood Revival providing vintage hair and make-up looks to the acts working at the revival, it was so much fun to create the looks designed by the make-up and hair designer.
More recently I have been working on a low budget feature film in London where I complete hair and make-up for multiple actors with a variety of different skin tones and hair ethnicities.
I have previously worked as a nurse which was incredibly rewarding however, I wanted to work full time in hair and make-up as it allows me to work more creatively and the skills I learnt as a nurse have been transferrable to the industry.
I am a friendly, kind and easy going individual as I am able to get on with and work professionally with people from all walks of life. I am excited to keep up experience in this field as I am a keen to build on my existing creative skills as well as expand my knowledge and learn from others on the job.
