A phone camera had to hold its own beside a Sony Venice II. I was Director of Photography on this seven-day vivo X300 Ultra campaign across mainland China and Hong Kong, shooting with the phone, Venice II and Sony FX6.

The challenge was getting three different sensors and colour responses to feel like one film. I loaded my own movie looks into the phone and pushed them hard to see what the image could hold. That gave us the confidence to shoot all three formats toward the same visual language.
