Challenge 1 - Visualise the weather forecast in a different way
ʻStriving for maximum reach, explore how the forecast for today
and days ahead could be communicated. What is the most important information that needs to be communicated Think about your audience consider how/when/where they might be exposed to this forecast. Look into different channels, both current and emerging.ʼ

So why the shipping forecast?
Instead of looking into the weather in general I wanted to explore some- thing different to what my peers were doing. The Shipping Forecast is a BBC Radio 4 (longwave) broadcast of forecasts and weather reports for the seas around the coasts of the UK. Itʼs produced by the Met Office on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and there are 4 broadcasts a day. The broadcast is a repetition of the names of the sea areas and has been said to be hypnotic but also confusing unless you know what it all means. With the main communication of it being on the radio I thought there could be an interesting way to visualise the BBC broadcast and it make it simpler for those who donʼt understand what the broadcast means.
