ABOUT

I was asked by the art department of the college to create a poster at A1 dimensions to be displayed throughout the campus encouraging students to stay on at the college to achieve their chosen creative degree. The department supplied the information that would be displayed they just wanted me to create a poster which linked to their branding at the time which was a series of various hexagons.

With the amount of information which would be displayed and the complexity of the branding, I couldn't have much creative freedom on this one. I just wanted to make sure that it was within the branding image and everything was laid out pleasingly and was easily readable.

I used to complex hexagon pattern at the bottom of the poster. I felt using it here didn't risk taking attention away from the text or it smothering it. I also used various sized hexagons at a low opacity in the background just to help fill up the amount of white space. I used the red shade found within the pattern because this shade worked the best, stood out the most but also complimented the white space and the dark grey tone used for the other sections of text.

The department was pleased with the overall outcome and felt it worked well alongside their other published material.
