ABOUT

The Plastic Forecast attaches the devastating effects of plastic production to something the world checks every day - the weather. It combines scientific research on atmospheric plastic particles with real time weather data, to estimate the kilograms of 'plastic rain' set to fall every day.

The Plastic Forecast was launched on the eve of the UN's talks at the ChangeNow Climate Summit in Paris, and was supported with hyper-targeted outdoor and social around the UNESCO building where discussions took place. The campaign generated significant support, with over 2,250 media mentions and a reach of 1.3 billion in less than two weeks. Influential figures, including government officials and celebrities, promoted the campaign on social media platforms.

On World Environment Day, the UN itself co-signed our initiative. Then, despite the lobbyists, the world's Plastic Treaty was drafted. 30 countries making a new commitment to reduce their production. As the Treaty is implemented, The Plastic Forecast is a daily reminder of the weight of inaction. Because every time it rains, it rains plastic.
