Sound Design by Ben Leeves
The brief to this is turning Lady J’s bombastic nature to life using sound design.
Our lead character (Lady J) is a huge bronze statue, holding the balance scales of justice. We therefore needed to create real weight and a metallic quality to her movements. Also, when she crashes into the quiet office, let’s reflect that in audio. Shock and awe!
Foley played a huge part in this project. Sounds were recorded in various locations to achieve the right feel. For instance, her feet are a mixture of many things including punch bag hits and real footsteps recorded on metal plates. The scales sounds were chains from our foley dungeon being shaken in the booth in time with her movements.
Lady J's dialogue was very well recorded on set, but still there was a lot of balancing and matching to do, including ADR. This then is balanced against a full music track and big sound design. So, the aim is to get a real flow and punch in the mix, giving each element its own space.
