ABOUT

Each one of the John Lewis Partnership’s 85,000 partner employees need to collaborate with and feel connected to each other and the wider organisation. But how to connect so many people for whom the idea of ‘office’ might be a desk, a truck, a checkout, the shop floor or a home office?
The answer lay in an entirely new approach to technology and a re-think of the kind of platform that would be most useful.

We took the time to get under the skin of the business before proposing the very best solution. After combining observation, face-to-face interviews, research and online surveys we came up with the concept of ‘Partner First’. This meant putting each Partner at the centre of an individualised online experience. So our challenge was to create a highly personalised, indispensible tool that would support each Partner in their day-to-day work and encourage collaboration.

We designed a social-based intranet built on a platform that could be accessed from anywhere and is available through mobile. It empowers Partners by encouraging idea generation and sharing through an improved structure, navigation and design. It offers a personalised experience, based around location and job role, bringing the whole JLP group together for the first time.
