I gained comprehensive experience as a graphic designer while illustrating children’s non-fiction books, working on tight schedules and deadlines. Practical skills included designing layouts, then creating text and images by mounting layout and artwork using QuarkXPress, Freehand/Illustrator and Photoshop. This required on going coordination with editors, illustrators and photographers to meet tight budget constraints.
