ABOUT

Overview:

This project offered a cutting-edge virtual experience to visitors in New York and Toronto, enabling them to explore the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, Italy, through HoloLens technology. The experience included a comprehensive virtual tour of the chapel, with exclusive access to typically restricted areas such as the crypt and sacristy.

Software: Blender, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Hardware: Sony Alpha 6000
Year: 2023

Role and Responsibilities:

I played a multifaceted role in this project, overseeing both the technical development and the marketing and UX/UI design aspects.

Digital Content Creation:

360-Degree Photography and Texture Acquisition:
I captured detailed 360-degree photos of the chapel during nighttime sessions, ensuring an unobstructed view of the entire space, including the crypt and sacristy. This photography provided the basis for the creation of high-quality textures used in the virtual environment.

3D Modeling and Texturing:

Using Blender, I developed accurate 3D models of the chapel, recreating architectural features no longer visible to visitors. I carefully designed and applied textures to these models, ensuring authenticity and historical accuracy. I also restored the placement of the historic wooden painted cross above the altar in the virtual environment.

Optimization for Unity:

I exported the 3D models and textures to Unity, optimizing them to maintain high visual fidelity while ensuring smooth performance on the HoloLens platform.
