About me

An Introduction I'm a Creative currently specialising in the Usability and User Experience components of large scale web application interface design, combining the very best elements of Social Media (Web 2.0) with massive user management, normally hundreds of thousands a day, all built on the kind of Content Management Systems that are normally only associated with banking systems and accessible through PCs, MACs and Mobile Devices; the term large scale hardly does them justice. I've created User Interfaces and User Functional Specifications for every conceivable level of user ability from SEN and infant school students through to heavyweight IT experts; ensuring that the Usability of the systems is not just a matter of looking nice and consistent, but ensuring that sound methodology, (SCRUM, Wire-framing, Prototyping etc) leads to a feature rich system that is tailored to the individual users needs. My role covers everything from Client/User Needs Analysis, Usability and Functional Documentation, Prototyping (Adobe Creative Suite) and Creative Support from User through Client to Product. It is important to point out at this juncture that I'm not a Developer; I work closely with Developers and can myself code using basic XHTML and can put Dreamweaver through its paces but I'm not a Developer, I'm a Designer. I work with some of the most talented and gifted Developers, people who can actually think in code; I can't do what they do but there is no way that they can do what I do either. I've worked in just about every aspect of Media and Marketing you can think of both in Traditional and Digital Design and have held positions as Creative Director, Lead Designer, Design Consultant . . . well again, pretty much everything you can think off. Titles are not something I aspire to, the roles, responsibilities and rewards of producing my best work are. Because of my longevity and cross-market experience I understand a diverse array of user needs as well the complexities and limitations of the development process and as a Creative sitting between these two needs I'm ideally placed to act as Interpreter, making certain that the needs of the User (which are often different to the client) are not overlooked or underestimated by Technical Consultants and Developers and also that Users themselves understand both the possibilities offered by Rich Media as well as the complexities of the Development Process. I'm currently based in Tamworth and due to family commitments have no desire to relocate; however London Euston is only an hour and fifteen minutes away and so I'd be more than happy to entertain the idea of London based work, at least for the right role.
