ABOUT
Create a magazine website that could be maintained by the publisher's very own editorial staff. No webmaster. No kidding!
The publisher was ready to take its print edition online for the first time, but due to budget constraints, were wary of needing a webmaster on call 24/7 to accommodate their editorial staff.
My solution when I pitched the job was to make their entire staff, in a sense, webmasters. They would have the ability to upload new content, archive existing, track reader/subscriber feedback. engage in social media and communicate with their subscriber base as well constantly bring in new advertisers whenever/wherever.
Assembling a team of four (including me and a fantastic front/back end design/development team), we were able to design, code and have the beta site up and running within three weeks of being awarded the project.
Add in a half day of tutorial/pizza for the editorial staff and today you have a flourishing online magazine that's branching into webcasting (hello Retrofit TV!). All due to using design and the latest technology to empower what is already a terrific little magazine into something even bigger.
