About me

: I am a determined and hard-working journalist. I have developed key skills whilst training at the Press Association for my NCTJ qualification. I have the ability to write clean and concise copy, and I have developed great interviewing skills during my freelance sports writing at the newspapers Essex Chronicle and Hertfordshire Mercury. I have been the reporter for Stevenage FC during my time at the Hertfordshire Mercury, going to press conferences and matches. I have also had to write about different sports including cross-country, basketball, rugby and horse-racing. I have developed a great style to confidently write about different topics whether that be politics, economics or sport, and this was enhanced during my NCTJ training where I achieved great grades for my Law, Sport and Current Affairs exams. I have experience of the health sector after working in a chemist during my a-levels and university education, and feel I would be an asset because of my knowledge. During my time as a columnist at Essex Live, I also established a great voice to write features and columns which allowed me to express my opinions and understand my writing style. I have experience using social media to promote stories for the Hertfordshire Mercury, and I am a regular user of Twitter for personal use so I understand the workings of the site, and how to get more readers to interact with the story. I would be a great asset to the organisation because I am persistent to get a story and professional in my job. I want to be a journalist, and I will work hard to make it to the top.
