ABOUT

Oral Surgery Scotland approached us with a clear yet ambitious brief: to create a brand identity that proudly reflects its Scottish roots while maintaining the trust, clarity, and professionalism expected in the dental sector. The client wanted a visual language that could be instantly recognisable as both clinical and culturally grounded with a subtle nod to Scotland’s national identity through the iconic saltire (cross) of the Scottish flag.

We developed two distinct brand marks, each designed to convey precision, care, and Scottish heritage. The tooth form concept abstractly represents the shape of a tooth, incorporating the clean lines and symmetry of the saltire cross. It delivers a subtle fusion of clinical relevance and cultural identity. The tooth form was structured to feel modern, balanced and authoritative.

The second route explored the universal symbol of warmth and reassurance, the smile. We merged the curvature of a smile with the underlying structure of the saltire, creating a design that’s both uplifting and grounded in national symbolism. This approach lent itself well to patient-facing communication, humanising the brand without compromising professionalism.

The palette was inspired by the Scottish landscape and clinical cues. Soft aquas and gentle greens created a sense of calm and cleanliness, while deeper blues anchored the identity in trust, heritage, and expertise. This combination ensured the brand felt both inviting and credible.

This approach provided Oral Surgery Scotland with a flexible, cohesive identity system suitable for various applications from signage and patient literature to digital platforms and surgical materials. The brand now stands confidently as a modern, patient-centred service rooted in its Scottish identity, while maintaining the clinical authority demanded in the dental field.

This project reflects our ongoing commitment to thoughtful, purpose-led design where even the smallest details carry meaning and strategy.
