Richard Harrison 3D Artist

ABOUT

Over my years working on CBBC's popular stop motion series Scream Street, I was tasked with creating 3D set extensions, CG characters (Modelling, Texturing & Rigging), CG Rendering, CG VFX, as well as compositing.
The set extensions had to be placed alongside the existing sets and seemlessly track with any camera move the directors placed within a sequence and so 3D tracking was used extensively.
Due to the nature of live action/stop motion and CG combined shots, the characters I created for Factory had to withstand the closest scutiny and hold up visually alongside the real life hand made puppets. This was also true for the movement of the CG characters. Which meant the rig needed to be exactly what the animator required to allow them to animate it as if it were a real stop motion puppet.
I would describe this time as my formative years as a 3D artist. It's when I oned my skills in zbrush and learned to work closely with directors, animators and other CG departments to refine my craft and process alike, to bring it to a commertial, televised standard.
