There is a lot of ambiguity with that comes with being “mixed race”, being mistaken for one ethnicity or not fitting the standard of another. With mixed race becoming a growing minority in the UK there are issues that lie in representation, especially in media. People of colour are desperate for fair representation across Hollywood and advertising, I too long to see myself in an actor/actress, playing the protagonist or main lead for a movie.

Based on identity, this project catalogues the faces of those who come from a mixed race background of having one white parent and one black parent. These portraits were created to challenge the way we use appearance to use create identities.
