Two Brighton-based design leaders, Dom Bailey and Claire Blyth, have come together to put design in the spotlight in the city, by launching Meeting Room Presents, a new event for local designers, design fans and those that want to learn more.
Dom Bailey, co-founder and strategist of Brighton-based design agency Baxter & Bailey, and Claire Blyth, founder of design-focused PR agency Red Setter and host of the ‘My Life in Design’ podcast, have founded Meeting Room Presents to showcase and celebrate design and provide a central gathering for all design enthusiasts in the city to come together – from students who want to pursue a career in design to local design professionals, and anyone in Brighton who is a fan of design in general.
Launching on Thursday 17th October at The Old Courthouse in Brighton, the inaugural Meeting Room Presents, will host artist and graphic designer Rob Lowe aka ‘Supermundane’ and brand designer Rejane Dal Bello, who runs her own design studio. The two creative superstars will be sharing their thoughts on art, design, good practice and the role and impact of colour in their work.
The event is an extension to the original bi-annual design gathering called Meeting Room that is more aimed towards agency directors and practicing design professionals in Brighton and surrounding areas. Launched by Claire and Dom in May 2022, when they realised that there was nothing to bring the local design community together, it now sees around 50+ designers come together every six months at Brighton Beach House, with the next event taking place on 15th November.
Red Setter’s Claire Blyth says: “Design is an exciting industry to be part of. When you realise that everything around us has been designed, you start to understand the major impact and value of the discipline. Brighton is known internationally as a centre of creativity, hosting many creative events and festivals, but nothing specifically for design, until now.”

Meeting Room Presents is suitable for 14+ and particularly for those exploring interests at GCSE, A Level, Apprenticeships and Higher Education at College and University. It will seek to bring design to life and showcase examples of career opportunities. The creative industries grew more than one and a half times faster than the wider economy from 2010 to 2019 and in 2021 generated £108 billion in economic value. In 2021, they employ 2.3 million people – a 49% increase since 2011*.
