Double-Bind is a term from psychology that describes a toxic relationship between two people and whose roles are defined by the fact that one is the perpetrator and the other is the victim. Typical is, among other things, the dependency between them, which is reinforced by a repetetive behaviour pattern in which the victim feels trapped.

The fact that double-bind has a complex background inspired me to visualise it by simplifying and abstracting the characteristics and make it accessible on an aesthetic and emotional level.

In my video performance we observe two people. A spit screen alternates between play and non-play, metaphor and reality, and reflects the relationship between a woman and a man, depicted in fragmentary images. Each screen runs in a loop and thus the actions of the people involved are set in relation to each other anew.
