I am writing to apply for the Photo Editor position you have available.

I believe that I would be an ideal candidate for this position due to my experience in dealing with images, whether it be taking them, retouching or editing them; both personally and professionally. I gained my Diploma in Photographic Imaging in 2005 and have since worked within the publishing industry across newspapers, magazines and books; all positions I have held since graduating have involved the handling of images in some way or another. I have over 8 years' of experience working with Photoshop, over four years using In Design and have some experience with Flash.

I currently work as a Production Editor at a Global publishing company here in London. My main task is ensuring all scheduled deadlines are meet and our books go to press on time and to the highest standard. I also look after the reproduction budget of my titles and coordinate all images to and from the repro houses, quality control and file management. I juggle multiple front-list titles at one time as well as corrections to archived titles, coordinating these through design and editorial departments. I work closely with many teams and thoroughly enjoy the internal and external interaction.

I also have experience working as a Picture Editor/Image Handler for one of New Zealand's largest daily newspapers, this involved picture researching, image correction and sole charge of the picture desk on night shift. Although I only held this position for 6 months as I relocated to Australia from New Zealand, it was invaluable experience with huge volumes of images coming through the picture

desk and having to work to extremely tight deadlines. I thrived in this environment and eagerly want to pursue my career in this field. I also have over three years design experience, working on layouts, covers, marketing collaterial, web advertisements and media kits.

I can work autonomously and as a team member, I have an excellent proven employment history, I go above and beyond managers exceptions, I am extremely hard working and possess a excellent work ethic.

I am well organised, have a keen eye for detail, creative, great interpersonal skills and believe I can bring my hard work and down to earth nature to your company.
