I created a series of illustrations and matching text designs for publication in Emily Dugan's BuzzFeed News investigation that revealed illegal strip searches being conducted on vulnerable women in a private British prison. The article revealed that prison officers had been illegally strip-searching prisoners, including victims of sexual violence and those with severe mental health issues.

I wanted to convey the helplessness and pain the women described feeling. Many had already been through horrible events in their lives before being imprisoned, to find things only getting worse in jail. For one illustration, I drew one of the actual areas of the prison, and for the others I drew portraits up-close to give an intimate look at the invasive feeling of being strip searched.
